In the Greek National Opera

Today, we watched in the Greek National Opera (now located at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation) the opera of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro.
This play is also famous for the septet in Act Two: Starting with one, then two, three, four, five, six and in the end seven characters discuss with each other during a thrilling music part, which lasts for twenty minutes without, however, losing its clarity and power.
Briefly Review:
The positive elements are the impressive (and long-lasting) production, the colorful costumes, the (of course) excellent music, the ideal and fitting interpretations.
The cult figure of the pianist - dressed like a "blue prisoner" and his moves, as well as the passionate actors, ‎stood out.
The negatives elements are that the stage didn't have very good acoustics (the higher the balcony from the scene you were sitting, the more "null" the sound) and the (left or right) scenes, which were made to be seen clearly only from those who bought seats in the middle of the stage. The rest of visitors should have strong imagination.
If you too want to watch a performance at the National Opera, visit the calendar | program of its events or book your online tickets here

IWD19 Women Techmakers Greece

Saturday today and from the morning until 19.00, I was at the Serafio Center in Piraeus to watch the IWD2019's all-day meeting of the Women Techmakers Greece.
In total 2 Googlers, 10 Google Developers Experts and 2 Tech Consultants were in the IWD 19 | Women Techmakers Greece Summit to transmute their knowledge and to encourage the Greek women who are involved in computer technology programs and their codes.
I adored Cheryl Edison (Founder, Business Innovation Advisor and Strategist) and her thoughts. But overall, all participants did a good job awhile there was also a presentation of the ARCore and an introduction to Machine Learning – Angular.
If you are dealing with codes, PC technology and computer programming I would suggest younot to skip it next time. For more information, click on the official site of WomenTechmakers | IWD 19

The light blue shirt

“The light blue shirt, sometimes I wore it and sometimes you wore it.”
(from the song of G. Dalaras)
in lyrics | music: Stavros Kougioumtzis.
“The light blue shirt, you never wore it again.”
And if so, why?
Today's photography may not represent your favorite style, but because the blue or the light blue color this year is in fashion (and every year it's style is in fashion to such an era that aries Spring), I have a simple, everyday suggestion for your to wear on your morning walks in the city's center.

Happy National Holiday!

Happy National Holiday!
Nameday wishes in Vangelis, Evangelia (Yes, Lily comes out of Evangelia, thank you for the wishes!) and lots of happy years in all the Hellenism!
Today in Greece we celebrate the 25th March with a double holiday:
The successful Greek Revolution War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire in 1821 and the Annunciation by archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she should become the mother of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

The photo of this day is from my recent trip to Nafplion - the first official capital city (the first unofficial was in Aegina) of the newly established Greek state in 1823, where the first Greek government was sworn in and where the first governor - Kapodistrias, was murdered. Enjoy your day! 💋 Kisses!

Enjoying today's Greek sun

Today's photo is me - earlier in the morning - at the Ciccus cafe bar (in Athens) enjoying Spring and the Greek sun.
There is a quote on that:
"Life is all about balance.
You don’t always need to be getting stuff done.
Sometimes it’s perfectly okay, and absolutely necessary, to shut down, kick back and do nothing."

— Lori Deschene.
Happy Long weekend (Saturday, Sunday and this Monday the 25th as a Greek national holiday) to you all! 🌸☀️🌺

World Poetry Day and Spring Equinox

World Poetry Day today along with the Spring Equinox and along with my morning photo from the Plaka neighborhood, overlooking the Acropolis hill, I have for you a favorite of mine - notorious - poem that I think its right:
Thoughts aren't black and white they're all colours and shades
From the pastels to the brightest to the dull and gloomiest of greys
And so is the canvas of love from the passionate pinks and reds to happy yellows and gay blues. From the exciting royal purples to the calm and pleasing greens
Love isn't pure and stark white of hope and happiness laid bare
Always stained with a little black of anger and doubt and despair
You have to dip the brush of life and be content with what you get
And hope that the design of love matches your heart's pallette.
— Nidhi Agrawal.

Do you enjoy life?

“Ανοήμονες βιούσι ού τερπόμενοι βιούν.”
(Meaning: Fools live without enjoying life)
Democritus, 470-370 BC, Ancient Greek philosopher.

Today's photos are from earlier this morning in the sunny Athen's city center from the balcony of Ciccus bar where I've enjoyed my first coffee of the day. On the background it's the Stoa of Attalos and you can look up more info on this Greek archaeological site by clicking here

Today dawned a sunny Saturday - the ideal time for sunny walks and vitamin D composition. I participated in the Joomla Talks 2019 Athens, a very interesting day-to-day conference of the Greek community of Joomla at the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information (which still has a public card phone booth - Just saying😳).

Last Sunday of the Greek Carnival

Last Sunday of the Greek Carnival and all around Greece there are carnival rhythms.
I was in Nafplio there was a wonderful sunny day and the carnival started at 17.00 from the Department of Theater Studies (Old Prefecture of Nafplion) to end with the traditional (and always impressive) symbolic burning of the Carnival King at the port of the town.
The feast was continued with a concert at Filellinon Square and latin dances at Syntagma Square, the crowd was happy and the children were excited.
I admit that the Carnival though it's not on my favorite holidays and I don't like to be disguised - but with this particular walk - today was a really nice day.

Go Greece! GO!

"Like a little Summer" will be the weather from today on in Greece, with high temperature and positive mood. But there os still something else I am into:
Have you heard Katerina's Duska amazing song for this year's Eurovision?
I may be bragging right now but I'm glad to say moments like this how proud I am for my music education (proved and through me oldest posts) as I was among those who had for many years believed in Katerina Duska's special voice while at the same time I was wondering how come and this lady is not yet worldwide known - when unfortunately not many people knew her in her own country.
But I think that Paulo Coelho sees vindication and Katerine Duska has finally her chance for international recognition and career with the song Better Love and her participation in this year's Eurovision!
Go girl! Go! Go Greece!

May yours be as well like this.

Welcome March!

I say Welcome March! and March replies: I am the month that shall bring Spring. Today feels quite like Spring indeed, although here in Greece we say that “March is a scalper and a bad evil stake” because if it gets angry, the snow will fall.
So how will you spend this lovely first day of March?

Seafood and beer at the Ark Restaurant Athens
With today's sun and 68°F temperature high (after having coffee) I had some joyful time for beer and seafood in the Ark Bar - Restaurant (in Glyfada), right by the beach.
Wishing you all a happy March and a month well spent!
